Care Instructions:
To ensure a long-lasting life, proper saddle care is essential!
- Avoid storing your saddle in hot, dry areas or in cool, damp places.
- Give a complete wipe-down after every use.
- Always keep your saddle covered with either a saddle cover or a towel.
Caution: Keep away from pets to avoid scratches
Warning! Tanned leather may be allergic to some skin types
Cleaning:
- Use a soft towel to wipe all loose particles.
- Then, completely dissolve 3 tablespoons of pure baking soda with 3 gallons of warm water.
- Dip a soft sponge into the mixture and apply to the entire saddle.
- Rinse the sponge frequently and change the mixture as needed.
- Use a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean basket-weave and intricate scrollwork.
- Let the saddle dry naturally at room temperature, never in the sun!
- Apply a leather conditioner on both sides; preferably containing beeswax and natural oils, but free of petroleum distillates.
- Too much conditioner and oil will clog up the pores of the leather with a sticky build-up. Do not overdo conditioning.
- Let dry completely. Then buff it to a shine with a clean cloth.
- Take special care in winter to protect your saddle from mold and moisture.
