How do I tell if my Ligers-n-Tigons saddle is a medium or wide tree?
Its written under the description of the saddle on the website and also on the tag for the saddle (i.e. on the saddle).
What is a L-n-T Fiber Reinforced tree?
The patented L-n-T Fiber Reinforced tree features technology derived from years of saddle fit and craftsmanship. This tree design gives you a fit flexible for the horse and lightweight for the rider. The L-n-T Fiber Reinforced tree conforms to the horse's back and the saddle skirts have a shock absorbing technology for the horse and rider's comfort.
What is L-n-T Softy leather?
L-n-T Softy leather is used on the seat jockeys and fenders. It provides a ready to ride feel, reducing the rider's knee and ankle strain.
How should I take care of my Ligers-n-Tigons saddle and leather accessories?
Please read Cleaning and Care.
How should I polish the silver on my tack?
L-n-T silver is pure silver electroplated and has a protective finish to prevent tarnishing. Cleaning should be done with a damp cloth only. Abrasive or chemical cleaners should not be used because they could result in removal of the protective finish. With normal use, saddle silver will be subject to scratches which may allow tarnishing. Use a soft cloth to buff away any tarnish.
Are Ligers-n-Tigons saddles high-quality?
Beginning with the leather, which is of the highest quality, and continuing through the assembly process (conducted by master saddlers), Ligers-n-Tigons saddles are second to none in look, feel, quality, comfort, and durability. Please contact us for more info.
I have a really wide horse and it is uncomfortable for me to sit so wide. Can anything be done to help my comfort?
Yes. We can have a special seat made that has a little extra padding in it. This helps to lift the rider a little which will allow the rider's hips to open more gradually. This also makes the horse feel thinner but the leg contact does not change. Some riders do not feel this is necessary; it depends on your comfort. Many people with wide horses find the width odd at first, thinking they will need the special seat. However they find out later that they are perfectly okay without it. A saddle pad with thinner padding at the sides can also help with rider comfort. A pad which is thinner in the leg area also helps. Some people also make custom adjustments in their saddle pads to create a 'twist' for the rider.
Can I use a breast collar or crupper?
YES. They are not required but they can helpful on some body shapes or when riding on extreme terrain.
Can I use the saddle on more than one horse?
Yes, the saddle conforms well to many horse shapes. No saddle will fit ALL horses but there is a greater chance of a Ligers-n-Tigons saddle fitting a wide variety of horses and ponies due to its flexibility. A new pad and/or girth may be needed for each horse to get a better fit. It is never recommended to remove the wood from the pommel without replacing it with an ample amount wool flocking.
Can I use the saddle for Long Distances?
Yes!! The saddle has been proved by many endurance riders.
Can I use the saddle for jumping?
Yes, L-n-T riders have done some jumping on trail and in the arena with great success!
